A lot of the songwriting for Paul Kelly's new album, "Ways
and Means", goes back to August 2002 when Peter Luscombe, Bill
McDonald, Dan Luscombe and Dan Kelly (Paul's housemate) joined Paul
to jam once a week in a rehearsal room. While they were waiting
for it to come out they collaborated on music for a film by Alkinos
Tsimilidos entitled "Missing Tom". They also recorded
a theme song and nine tracks for "Fireflies", a new TV
series, which will commence screening on the ABC this February.
To coincide with the mid-February release of "Ways and Means",
Paul and company will tour, playing Geelong's Performing Art Centre
on April 24, and the Melbourne Concert Hall on April 27. An updated
book of lyrics, published by Allen & Unwin, is scheduled
for release in March. It contains all song lyrics written up to
this point including the latest album.
